Iyai+ PARTICIPATES at “WEFTEC” WATER CAREER PATHWAYS PANEL

On Tuesday, September 24th, Iyai+ spent a packed day at the Water Environment Federation annual meeting and technical program (“WEFTEC” 2019) at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.  With thousands of participants and nearly 1000 exhibitors, Iyai+ Founder, Dr. Bev joined with scores of other participants focused on the workforce challenges and opportunities facing the water sector – including a WEF InFLOW Networking Luncheon, sponsored by WEF together with founding sponsor, Arcadis.

The purpose of the luncheon is simple.  To develop meaningful connections between industry trailblazers and the 40+ students participating in the InFLOW program at WEFTEC.  WEF’s “InFLOW” Program (Introducing Future Leaders to Opportunities in Water) — is designed to expand the network of future water sector leaders and accelerate the sector’s work to build a more diverse workforce and inclusive culture by identifying promising students from under-represented groups who are interested in professional careers in the water industry, and to facilitate connections that increase their opportunities for employment and foster their long-term success.

Iyai+ Water Sector Coordinators Drew Lehman and Dr. Afia Zakiya participated in this event, along with WEF leadership.  Opening Remarks were given by Jackie Jarrell, WEF President Elect, Tom Kunetz, WEF President (2018-19), John McCarthy, President of Water for Arcadis North America, and David Gadis, CEO of DC Water.
